Chicago Fire FC Breaks Ground on $750M Stadium

Chicago Fire FC has broken ground on a $750 million privately funded stadium at The 78 in the South Loop, the first major professional venue in Chicago in over 30 years.

The new 22,000‑seat stadium, designed by Gensler, will feature a grass pitch and a dedicated supporters section. Construction is led by Related Midwest, with Pepper Construction and GMA Co. on site.

The venue is slated to open for the 2028 MLS season and will host football matches, concerts, and community events, adding public plazas and retail access along the Chicago River.
