The match began with Maxence Lacroix scoring from a corner in the fourth minute. After the break, a VAR check led to a penalty and a red card for Lacroix, which Bruno Fernandes converted. Benjamin Sesko then scored for Crystal Palace, but United held on to win 2-1.

The victory gives United three points and lifts them to third place in the Premier League, while Crystal Palace remains in 15th. Jørgen Strand Larsen was substituted after an hour.
