The Pittsburgh Steelers announced the death of former defensive back Mike Wagner, who helped the team win four Super Bowls in the 1970s. Drafted in the 11th round in 1971, Wagner became a starter as a rookie and recorded 36 interceptions over 10 seasons, including game‑sealing picks in Super Bowls IX and X.
Wagner’s toughness and team‑first mentality made him a key part of the Steel Curtain defense. Steelers owner Art Rooney II said he will be remembered as a champion, great teammate and proud member of the Steelers family.
