Trent Williams credits Kyle Shanahan for 49ers' success

49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams said the team's 12‑5 season and playoff run were thanks to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Despite injuries and a key wide‑receiver departure, the San Francisco 49ers finished the 2025 season 12‑5, upset the defending Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles in the wild‑card round, and fell to the eventual champions Seattle Seahawks in the divisional game.

On "The Pivot Podcast," Williams praised Shanahan, saying the coach’s leadership, game‑planning, and locker‑room management turned a difficult season into a playoff run. He noted that Shanahan’s focus on accountability and intensity made players want to perform for him, not just for themselves.
