Iran's World Cup Participation in Doubt Amid US Conflict

Iran's participation in the upcoming World Cup co-hosted by the United States has been thrown into doubt following recent military conflict between the two nations.

The head of Iran's football federation has reportedly cast uncertainty on their participation in the tournament, which begins in little over 100 days. Iran's group matches are scheduled against New Zealand, Belgium, and Egyptian teams in US cities including Los Angeles and Seattle.

Fifa, football's world governing body, is monitoring the situation but currently expects Iran to participate. Should Iran boycott the tournament, Iraq or UAE could potentially replace them as representatives from the Asian Football Confederation.
