Olympic star Jack Hughes earns huge ovation during NHL return

Jack Hughes returned to the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday to a massive ovation following his Olympic gold medal, calling out teammate Tage Thompson to join him on the ice.

The 2026 Winter Olympics champion received a hero's welcome at the Prudential Center. New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill presented Hughes with a state flag before the puck dropped.

Hughes used the moment to celebrate with former Olympic teammate Tage Thompson of the Buffalo Sabres. As the Devils look to claw their way back into playoff contention, the star center returns to action with high momentum.
