Should Bears Get Picks for Falcons Hiring Cunningham?

Ian Cunningham thinks the Bears should receive compensatory draft picks under the NFL's Rooney Rule after he was hired as GM by the Falcons, though the team may not get them.

According to Cunningham, his understanding of the rule suggests that when a general manager is hired, the original team should receive two third-round picks. "I'm the General Manager. I was hired. I would think that they would get two third-round picks," he said.

The Bears are not expected to receive those picks because Falcons president of football Matt Ryan is considered the top football executive in Atlanta. Bears GM Ryan Poles called it "a little odd" that the Chiefs got picks when he was hired and called the entire rule "strange."
