The quarterback situation is anything but clear for the New York Jets heading into free agency. The team could go in a number of directions. One direction the Jets will not go is veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins. Brian Costello of the New York Post reports the team has no interest in the 38 year old signal caller.
The Jets memorably failed to land Cousins in 2018 when the quarterback was a coveted free agent.
Cousins will turn 38 before the season starts, and his best days are behind him. The fact he was viewed as an option shows how limited the choices are at the Jets’ disposal.
Despite his decline, Cousins remains a likely upgrade over the quarterback play the Jets received in 2025. In fact, there aren’t many options available who are clearly better. Still, the declining Cousins was an uninspiring choice at best. It also isn’t clear he would have any interest in coming to a rebuilding Jets team.
