18’ — Nico Schlotterbeck slides in for the ball but catches Josip Stanisic’s leg, and only gets a yellow for that? Sure.
17’ — Bayern mostly in control so far. Some shots here and there but it’s still 0-0.
13’ — Bayern with some sloppy defending but Dortmund can’t finish the move off.
10’ — Both teams still feeling their way into the match.
Kickoff! — LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO
Lineups are here! Vincent Kompany has unsurprisingly gone for a no-nonsense lineup for this huge match.
Bayern Munich is looking good for the business end of the season, getting enough rest whilst keeping title “challengers” Borussia Dortmund at bay. Die Schwarzgelben ended their Champions League campaign in horrific fashion by squandering a first leg lead to go out on aggregate against Atalanta, coincidentally Bayern’s round of 16 opponents.
While Dortmund appears to be formidable in the league, cracks are starting to show in the team and the fact that Dortmund coach Niko Kovać played most of his starters is a telling sign. His players are bound to be gassed by this fixture, so the odds aren’t in their favor.
The Bavarians are somewhat banged up, but it still has a mostly healthy squad. Fitness is paramount at this point in the season.
