Harvey hoping Truro City can defy relegation odds

Truro City striker Tyler Harvey says he and his team-mates will relish trying to defy the odds to stay in the National League.

The Tinners are bottom of the table in their first-ever season in the fifth tier.

A late defeat at Eastleigh on Wednesday night means City are 11 points from safety with 13 games to go.

"I think since I've been here it's been against all odds in anything Truro will do," long-serving striker Harvey told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"We've never had it easy here, whether it be top end of the table, bottom end of the table, playing at other people's stadiums.

"I don't think we've had much in our favour since the day I signed, so that's nothing new and we'll relish it and see how we get on."

Harvey, 30, scored 25 goals last season as Truro won the National League South title.

But injuries have hampered the former Plymouth Argyle player's progress this season, with the forward scoring just five times.

However, he says morale in the squad is still strong and everyone is trying their best to keep City in the division.

"Every action on the field is everyone's responsibility.

"We're a team, we're a club, so whether it's my end of the field, defensively, it's all part of our job to make it go in one end and stay out the other and ultimately that's what we're trying really hard every day to do.

"I'm sure everyone knows that, we're an honest bunch of lads, player-wise, staff-wise, we turn up every game and give it everything we've got .

"At least we know that's what we're we're giving every Saturday and every Tuesday, so we've just got to keep going.

"Against all odds we've done some crazy things before, so let's relish it and see what we can do."
