Real Madrid want Man City midfield general who could be available for €50 million – report

A new midfielder is on the agenda for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window, given that they have been unable to replace Toni Kroos and Luka Modric since the iconic duo bid goodbye to the club.

In that regard, one name that continues to be linked heavily with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu is Manchester City and Spain midfield general, Rodri.

The 29-year-old midfield ace has a lot of admirers at the Spanish capital club, and the fact that his contract set to expire in 2027 makes him an appealing target.

Meanwhile, other midfielders, such as PSG’s Vitinha, Kees Smit of AZ Alkmaar, and Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace, have also been mentioned as possible targets.

There are some concerns with regard to his fitness, considering that he has endured an injury-riddled past year or so.

As such, Los Blancos will closely monitor his fitness leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer before deciding on whether to make a move or not.

As per the report, those at Real Madrid estimate that Rodri could be available for a fee of around €50 million, considering that he will be entering the final year of his contract at Manchester City.

Whether that is indeed the case remains to be seen, but as things stand, Rodri continues to be high on the wishlist of Real Madrid officials as they look for midfield reinforcements in the summer window.
