The Los Angeles Chargers reportedly have two players on the chopping block this offseason and the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders should take note.

Those two cut candidates, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic, are guard Mekhi Becton and edge rusher Bud Dupree.

“My expectation right now is that [Mekhi] Becton will be cut. I also expect the Chargers to move on from [Bud] Dupree," Popper wrote.

Dupree only tallied two sacks last season and is getting up there in age, but he could still be a solid rotational piece for teams that need depth along the edge.

Becton managed to revive his career with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024, but things did not go well for him in 2025 after he gave up three sacks, 37 pressures and tallied Pro Football Focus grades of 34.3 in run-blocking and 45.2 in pass-blocking.

It is important to note, however, that Becton was banged-up for much of the season and that could have very well played a part in his disappointing showing.

Two teams that could potentially have interest in both of those players are the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders.

If the Giants lose Greg Van Roten in free agency, the team could turn to Becton as a cheap replacement. At edge rusher, Kayvon Thibodeaux is a trade candidate and if New York unloads him, they'll need a depth addition like Dupree.

In Las Vegas, there are a lot of moving parts that could lead to the Raiders having interest in Dupree and/or Becton.

At edge rusher, there is a chance the Raiders will trade Maxx Crosby, and Malcolm Koonce is a pending free agent, so the cupboard could be bare in Las Vegas.

Adding Dupree as a quick and cheap depth fix would make sense in that scenario.

The Raiders may also need as many as two guards, as Dylan Parham is a pending free agent and Jackson Powers-Johnson could shift to center, where we believe he is best suited after playing well there during his rookie campaign.
