Major relief for Real Madrid concerning key defender after hospital scare

Major relief for Real Madrid concerning key defender after hospital scare

There is finally some good news for Real Madrid and their supporters regarding Raul Asencio.

According to an update shared by journalist Alvaro Esteban, it has come to light that the academy defender is now resting at home after undergoing a series of medical tests earlier this morning.

Fortunately for everyone involved, the results have come back positive, easing fears that emerged during the dramatic UEFA Champions League clash against SL Benfica.

What happened to Asencio?

The incident caused genuine concern inside the Santiago Bernabeu. During the second half, Asencio collided heavily with teammate Eduardo Camavinga while challenging for an aerial ball.

Both players went for the same delivery without realising the danger, and Asencio absorbed the worst of the impact.

He fell awkwardly and remained motionless on the pitch, prompting immediate intervention from the medical staff.

The atmosphere inside the stadium shifted instantly from competitive tension to visible worry.

Later, Alvaro Arbeloa admitted the emotional reaction in his press conference, saying, “It made all our stomachs clench.”

Asencio was stretchered off and transferred to the hospital as a precaution. Reports indicate he underwent CT scans and remained under observation for several hours.

He was also placed on a drip as part of the monitoring process.

Nothing to fear

Fortunately, the latest developments are encouraging

After completing further tests early this morning, doctors delivered positive results, allowing him to return home to continue his recovery.

The timeline for his return to action remains open. His availability will depend entirely on how he responds over the coming days.

Importantly, the club has not ruled him out of Monday’s La Liga fixture against Getafe, which suggests the injury may not be as serious as initially feared.
