Giants news, 2/26: Sonny Styles impresses, Chris Simms interview

Good morning, New York Giants fans!

2026 NFL offseason: Ranking the top 15 trade candidates | ESPN.com

15. Kayvon Thibodeaux, Edge, New York Giants. The Giants have a surplus of impact defensive linemen with Brian Burns and Abdul Carter, and it seems more likely they’ll try to find a trade partner for Thibodeaux than extend the 2022 first-round pick ahead of his fifth-year-option season. The question is whether the Giants can find a taker for him at that salary in a deep offseason edge rusher market, but the chatter at the combine indicates they’re going to try.

Predicted chance of getting traded: 70%. Potential team fits: Chargers, Bengals, Bears.

Giants stare down big decisions on six players ahead of free agency | The Athletic

Bobby Okereke is due a $3 million bonus if he’s on the roster on March 13, but teams typically make cap moves before the start of free agency. So expect a resolution on the linebacker before free agency’s negotiating window kicks off on March 9.

“We’re going to do that when we get back,” Schoen said when asked about addressing Okereke’s cap hit. “We’ll get an idea what the values are for some of our UFAs and what type of room we’re going to need and then how we’re going to approach that.”

2026 franchise tag candidates for all 32 NFL teams | PFF

New York Giants: None. Like other organizations on this list, the Giants will have to sift through several crucial free agents and decide which are worth retaining. While tackle Jermaine Eluemunor (76.7 PFF pass-blocking grade) and receiver Wan’Dale Robinson (69.8 PFF receiving grade) each enjoyed encouraging campaigns and would be welcomed back, neither correlates to the $27 million or more of their respective tags.

How the Giants have totally changed their perception after one year of mostly misery | New York Post

It’s incredible the difference a year can make.

During last year’s NFL combine, there was little hope around the Giants. Head coach Brian Daboll was on the hot seat. The Giants did not have a franchise quarterback, and it appeared unlikely they would be able to find one through the draft.

Latest Giants formal interviews: Anthony Hill, Peter Woods | The Record

The formal interviews kicked into high gear Tuesday night and in addition to Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles, I’m told the Giants met with Texas linebacker Anthony Hill and Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods. Sounds like Hill won over the room inside the Giants’ suite at Lucas Oil Stadium, which is interesting to see Styles and Hill emerge as legit options for a defense seeking MIKE linebacker presence.

Shared a laugh with Woods, who trains with Giants All-Pro Dexter Lawrence, given their Clemson connection, when I asked for his thoughts of maybe getting the chance to play with Dex. “They gotta come get me,” Woods told me with a smile. He’s likely a late first-round pick.
