Newcastle Stance on Liverpool Linked Gordon

Toon Stand Firm Amid Transfer Noise

Newcastle have no intention of selling Anthony Gordon, according to TalkSport, despite renewed links with Liverpool. The winger’s surge of seven goals in his last 12 games has sharpened attention from clubs higher up the table, but the message from St James Park is clear.

As talkSPORT state, “Newcastle have no plans to cash in on in-form Anthony Gordon, talkSPORT understands.”

Contract Strength Bolsters Position

The intrigue is obvious. Gordon once came close to Anfield, and his background adds colour to the speculation. “Despite graduating from the Everton academy, Gordon began his youth career on the red half of Merseyside and is a boyhood Liverpool fan.” Yet sentiment rarely trumps structure.

“Crucially for Newcastle, months after that Anfield move fell through Gordon penned a new contract keeping him at St James Park until the summer of 2028. That deal is not thought to include a release clause.”

In a market that often feels reactive, this is proactive resistance. “Keeping Gordon will be a big statement for the Magpies, with clubs also circling for the likes of Sandro Tonali and Tino Livramento, as reported in last week’s notebook.”

Newcastle’s stance is less about romance and more about resolve.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis

Gordon has grown into a focal point of the side, relentless in pressing, direct in transition and increasingly clinical in front of goal. Seven in 12 games is not a purple patch, it is progression.

The idea of selling to Liverpool would feel like retreat at a moment when Newcastle should be accelerating. The club have invested heavily, emotionally and financially, in building a core that can compete for Champions League places and domestic silverware. Allowing a key attacker to depart would send the wrong signal to rivals and supporters alike.

There is also pride at stake. Newcastle are no longer a selling club by default. The contract until 2028, without a release clause, represents leverage. If others admire Gordon, that is validation of the project.

Supporters will view this as a test of ambition. Stand firm now, and the message resonates across the Premier League.
