Oilers’ McDavid returns to practice in Anaheim

Connor McDavid is back on the ice with the Edmonton Oilers.

McDavid skated with the Oilers at morning skate in Anaheim ahead of Wednesday night’s clash with the Ducks (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 10:30 p.m. ET / 8:30 p.m. MT).

It marks the first time that the Oilers captain skated with the team since helping Canada to a silver medal at the Winter Olympics.

Both McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are expected to be in the lineup against the Ducks.

McDavid led the 2026 Winter Olympics in scoring with two goals and 11 assists. His 13 points set the record for most points of any player in a single Olympic tournament with NHL participation. He was also picked as the tournament’s MVP and best forward.

With Sidney Crosby unavailable due to injury, the Oilers captain also donned the ‘C’ for the Canadians in both their semifinal win over Finland and gold-medal game loss to the U.S.

After taking on the Ducks Wednesday, the Oilers continue their California road trip with stops in L.A. on Thursday and San Jose on Saturday.

Edmonton (28-22-8) comes out of the Olympic break sitting second in the Pacific Division with 24 games remaining on its schedule.
