The Iowa men’s basketball team is getting ready for a crucial home game against Ohio State on Wednesday.
Both teams are 9-7 in the Big Ten and tied for eighth place. Teams seeded fifth through eighth receive a double-bye in this year’s Big Ten conference tournament.
Ben Mccollum said it’s important to stay focused on the task at hand and not look too far ahead.
“Every Big Ten game is a big game because every team is so good,” McCollum said. “So again I think from a mental and an emotional standpoint, when you get up for certain games, then you have problems in the next game, and the next game, or vice versa and you stop improving. What is the line that Nick Saban always uses? I think he says, ‘Results are a distraction,’ and they are. It’s a distraction to what you actually need to do, which is to continue to improve.”
