Barcelona could sign Marcus Rashford for just £26m after his loan spell from Manchester United
Barcelona could land Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal this summer, and it would only cost them £26 million.
After losing his place in the squad under Amorim, Rashford was sent out on loan for the second time in a year, spending the 2025/26 season with Barcelona.
The 28-year-old hasn’t played for United since December 2024. At this point, it’s unclear if he’ll ever wear the Red shirt again in a competitive match.
The England forward spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa, where his performances caught Barcelona’s eye and led to another move abroad.
While nothing is set in stone yet, Rashford hasn’t hidden his desire to make his stay at Camp Nou permanent beyond this season.
Right now, Rashford is sidelined with an injury but he’s working to return to help Hansi Flick’s side finish strong. This period will be important if he wants to show he can be a reliable option throughout an entire campaign.
Man Utd may soon regret the Marcus Rashford deal with Barcelona
Rashford has been outstanding during his spell with the Catalan club and is now back in the England squad. He has done well in Spain and is an option for Hansi Flick off the bench, adding something different when required.
Both loans have certainly helped the 28-year-old get back to his best, even though he hasn’t secured a regular spot in Flick’s starting XI.
According to the Daily Star, United executives are beginning to regret their decision to allow Rashford to leave for £26m.
The report suggests that while Rashford’s future remains unsettled, he is clear about his desire to stay at Camp Nou beyond this season. The forward has consistently expressed his happiness at Barcelona and plans on staying with them once his loan ends.
This view is echoed by Fabrizio Romano, who stated: “What I’m hearing is that Barcelona want Marcus Rashford. They’re very happy with what he’s doing.”
How Marcus Rashford’s first season at Barcelona compares to Mark Hughes’
Mark Hughes made the switch from Manchester United to Barcelona in August 1986, although the deal had been in place since March.
The transfer was agreed months earlier, but Hughes didn’t officially join until that summer.
Terry Venables brought him in, but Hughes struggled to settle, managing just five goals before being loaned out to Bayern Munich.
In contrast, Rashford has already scored twice as many in his debut campaign and has also contributed 13 assists so far this season.
