Hirscher Gets Wildcard for World Cup

Former alpine skiing champion Marcel Hirscher will compete in the upcoming World Cup season after receiving a wildcard from the International Ski Federation (FIS). The eight-time overall World Cup winner, now representing his mother's home country Netherlands, will start as number 31 in races, placing him right after the top competitors. milkshake.it.com

Hirscher, who made a comeback in 2024 after changing nationality, suffered an ACL tear in training after just three races, causing him to miss the season and the following Olympic Winter. Meanwhile, American Lindsey Vonn has also been awarded a wildcard but has shown no indication of returning to competition after her own Olympic injury.
