Mets' Jefry Yan Leaps on Mound in Viral Debut Celebration

New York Mets rookie Jefry Yan celebrated his major league debut with a viral, high-flying leap and grass-slap after striking out the first batter he faced in a win over the Guardians.

Yan landed on the front of the mound and slapped the grass after striking out pinch-hitter Ángel Martínez with a 88.7 mph slider. "If I freeze him... I celebrated accordingly," Yan said.

Despite facing boos from Cleveland fans, Yan escaped a bases-loaded jam to preserve the Mets' lead. Manager Andy Green praised the moment as "really impressive" for the 29-year-old left-hander. mchezo.co.za
