Welsh FA Withdraws Support for Infantino

The Welsh Football Federation has become the first FIFA member to withdraw its support for President Gianni Infantino's re-election bid, citing governance failures.

The Welsh FA announced on Monday, August 3rd, that they no longer support Infantino's candidacy for the 2027 FIFA presidential election. The decision came shortly after FIFA withdrew a controversial proposal to allow external investors.

The Welsh Federation stated that 'failures in terms of good governance, processes, and leadership' have caused them to lose confidence in Infantino's leadership of world football.
