Juan Soto Challenges Ohtani for NL MVP

Juan Soto told Mets beat writer Anthony DiComo that he is coming for the NL MVP, aiming to dethrone Shohei Ohtani.

Shohei Ohtani, the reigning NL MVP, capped a historic 2025 campaign with 55 home runs and 102 RBIs, earning his fourth unanimous MVP award. The two‑way star, who debuted with the Angels in 2018 and signed a $700 million, ten‑year deal in 2023, has dominated the league and helped the Dodgers win back‑to‑back World Series titles.

Juan Soto, the Mets’ World Series champion, told beat writer Anthony DiComo that he is coming for Ohtani’s throne. Soto also aims to steer the Mets back to the postseason after an 83‑79 finish, bolstered by additions like Bo Bichette and Luis Robert Jr. after losing Pete Alonso to free agency.
