Munie brace leads San Jose past Sporting KC 3-0

Daniel Munie scored two goals and Preston Judd added another as the San Jose Earthquakes defeated Sporting Kansas City 3-0 in their MLS season opener.

Munie and Judd each scored four minutes apart just before halftime to give San Jose a 2-0 lead. Munie converted his second goal in the 54th minute to secure the victory.

San Jose outshot Sporting KC 18-7 and held a 15-3 edge in corner kicks. The match marked the start of the 2026 season for both teams, with Sporting KC coming off a last-place finish in the Western Conference.
