Shoaib Akhtar Reverses on Calling PCB Chairman 'Illiterate'

Shoaib Akhtar said his earlier comments about PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi were misinterpreted and aimed at the broader state of cricket administration, not the individual.

After calling PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi “incompetent and illiterate” on an Indian channel, Akhtar appeared on Pakistani TV to clarify that the remarks were directed at the overall cricket administration, not Naqvi personally. He said the words were meant to criticize the broader system that could destroy institutions.

Akhtar also expressed frustration with Naqvi’s sudden U‑turn on the boycott stance against India in the T20 World Cup, noting that the chairman had not followed through on his earlier position. The former pacer’s initial criticism on ABP News questioned Naqvi’s suitability for the PCB role, labeling him as lacking the necessary knowledge and literacy.
