FA clears Jim Ratcliffe over immigration remarks

The Football Association will not charge Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe for his controversial remarks claiming the UK was colonised by immigrants.

The governing body reminded Ratcliffe of his responsibilities during media interviews but decided not to pursue further action after determining the comments did not bring the game into disrepute.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the remarks as offensive, while Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham called them insulting, inflammatory and incorrect. This follows a brief period of silence from United manager Michael Carrick, who later reaffirmed the club's commitment to equality and diversity.
