Texas grand jury declines to indict Patrick Beverley

A Texas grand jury has declined to indict former NBA guard Patrick Beverley on assault charges related to his sister, ending the case that began after his arrest last year.

Authorities in Fort Bend County had arrested Beverley in November after his sister alleged he grabbed her by the neck, slammed her against a wall and punched her in the face. The grand jury on Monday declined to indict Beverley on one count of assault of a family member.

Beverley's attorneys stated their client "would never do anything to harm his sister" and expressed gratitude for the grand jury's decision. Beverley, who played 12 NBA seasons including with the Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks, posted on X that he was "deeply grateful" and emphasized the need to "protect our children, especially our young girls."
