On the latest episode of The Devils' Advocate Podcast, the BBC Radio Manchester crew discuss the prospect of Michael Carrick taking over as the full-time manager in the summer.
Joe McGrath said: "Do you not think that Michael Carrick is creating an amazing team, or an amazing group of players, for another manager to think 'I could make United a winning team'?
"If a manager took over from Ruben Amorim or Erik ten Hag, you're down in the dumps a bit and thinking you've got a big job on your hands. If you take over from Carrick and we finish third - and the board give you money to spend - the biggest of managers would like to come to the club.
"Is that then quite harsh on Carrick? After doing the hard work and getting the players on side and has proven we have got a team...
"Even when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge, we only finished sixth [in his first season] and we were not seen as a great team to take over. This is looking like a brilliant team to take over.
"It's a good headache for the board to have. Do you give it to a man who has proven he can beat the best, or give it to a manager who has been there, done it, won titles - who is probably more likely to win the title, but will cost more and will want more money to spend to Carrick."
