FRISCO - Depending on who you believe, "Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown is projected to sign a three-year, $24 million deal this offseason.''
And whoever wrote that is someone you should not believe.
Overshown, 26, is still viewed as a player with high upside ... upside that's been unfulfilled due to a series of devastating injuries.
And now, the brutal financial reality of those injuries is about to hit.
As he enters the 2026 season, "Agent Zero'' is eligible for a contract extension as he plays the final year of his rookie deal.

But I can tell you that the Cowboys have no intention of exercising that option by the May 1 deadline.
The Cowboys took Overshown in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. But before the University of Texas product made his NFL debut, the rookie from tiny Arp, Texas, tore his ACL during preseason.
He missed that entire year and rehabbed to be ready for the 2024 season. Overshown then played in the Cowboys’ first 14 games in 2024 and started 13 of them - and played well, until ...
His season was cut short again due to another torn ACL, along with tears to his MCL and PCL.
Devastating.
That injury ended his 2024 year and he missed the first 10 games of last season.

In 2025, Overshown returned in Week 11 and played six games for the Cowboys - but sustained a concussion late in the year to add to his woes.
Obviously, the Cowboys are opting to take a wait-and-see approach to paying him like the foundational player they believe he can be.
“I think the biggest thing is that, availability,” Cowboys COO Stephen Jones said this week at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. “Certainly, no one wants to play the game more than him. I can assure you of that. But, obviously, he needs to put together a full season, and if he does, I think it’s going to be a great season. ...
"I know how good he is and what he can do for us. I’m fired up about what he brings to the table. The only question mark he has is his injury issues he’s had and getting through a full year.”
Indeed, when Overshown has been on the field, he’s been productive. He recorded 90 tackles, eight for loss, with five sacks and five quarterback hits in 2024. He added four passes defended, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a Pick-6 in just 13 games played.
He is slated to be an unrestricted free agent in 2027, but ideally, that never happens. This season, a healthy Overshown could be showcased in new coordinator Christian Parker's "3-4 Hybrid'' defense to show off his ability ...
And his availability.
