Derry ruthlessly dismantle Offaly in Division Two

Derry ruthlessly hammered Offaly 2-25 to 0-8 to make it three Division Two wins in a row at Celtic Park.

Goals from Niall Loughlin and Matthew Downey, alongside five first-half two-pointers from Loughlin, Shane McGuigan, Brendan Rogers and a couple from Paul Cassidy, had Derry 2-17 to 0-3 ahead at the break.

Mickey Harte's return to the Oak Leaf County was not one he will want to remember as his side failed to register a score until the 17th minute.

The second half proved to be something of an non-event, with the result long decided.

Points from McGuigan, Loughlin and Niall Toner kept the scoreboard ticking over as the visitors failed to register a score for over 20 second-half minutes.

Ciaran Meenagh was without the services of captain Conor Glass as he served a suspension following his straight red card in last week's win at Kildare.

Glass be available for selection when Derry host fellow promotion chasers Cork next as they look to book an immediate return to the top tier.

Harte will take his Offaly side to Dungannon to face his native Tyrone as they continue their search for their first points of the season.
