PSG Enquires About Premier League Goal Machine Amidst Dembele Uncertainty

Paris Saint-Germain's invincible status is looking to be in shambles this season as they sit second in Ligue 1 and finished this season's Champions League group stage out of the eight direct qualification spots, as PSG came back from two goals down to defeat rivals Monaco 3-2 in the playoff round of the UCL.

Prior to their comeback victory in Europe, the Parisiens were left shell-shocked by their 3-1 defeat against Rennes in the league, as their star performer, Ousmane Dembele, openly criticised his teammates, saying, "You cannot win by playing individually."

Manager Luis Enrique was seemingly furious with Dembele's statement, calling it "worthless," and left a message for the Frenchman: "I will not allow any player to think they are more important than the club."

Dembele is yet to reach double figures in Ligue 1 this season, and he also scored just once in the Champions League, which clearly shows the Ballon d'Or winner is not the man he was last season. Quite naturally, PSG is looking at options to replace him next season.

As it seems Les Parisiens have just found the perfect replacement in the form of Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland.

According to TEAMTALK, PSG made 'discreet enquiries' about the City's current contract, which on paper is set to expire in 2034! But reports also suggest the contract includes a release clause, which would most likely be the costliest transfer fee ever paid by any club. Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are quite positive in their quest to bring the Norwegian to their club.

But if it comes down to a transfer battle at any point, PSG would definitely give both Barca and Real a run for their money, as previous record-breaking transfers stand as testament to Paris' financial superiority.

Haaland, who is just 25 years old, has already scored 330 goals for club and country as a professional and holds the record for scoring 100 Premier League goals in record time.

The Norwegian's goalscoring prowess shows no sign of stopping, which has naturally attracted PSG, who are currently looking to conquer world football for years to come, and bringing in a player of Haaland's stature would be a significant boost to PSG's quest for glory.
