Bayern Munich may have recently started an initiative to give more opportunities to the players from the FC Bayern Campus. That does not mean retaining the talent good enough to make it at Bayern will be easy, however.

Take U-17 striker Philipp von Taube, for instance. After some very good performances for the U-17s, Bild reports, as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER, that the youngster is hesitating to renew his expiring contract at Die Rekordmeister:

A decision regarding Philipp von Taube (16) is imminent at the club. The U17 center forward is currently one of the hottest prospects with 13 goals in 15 games. His contract expires in the summer, and after his recent performances, there should be no shortage of interested parties. If Bayern want to keep Von Taube, they must therefore promptly present him with an attractive contract extension offer. Von Taube has recently switched to the Leaderbrock Sports agency, which specializes in promoting young talents.

The relationship between Leaderbrock boss Héctor Peris and the current Bayern bosses is said to be good. With von Taube, everything is still up in the air. The only thing that’s clear is that the striker wants to take the next steps toward professional football in the near future and is looking for the best possible perspective to do so.

BFW Analysis

Ah, it is all so dramatic. Philipp von Taube is a very talented player who has many outstanding qualities, chief among them his name. In German, ‘von’ is a surname symbolizing nobility while ‘Taube” directly translates to dove. That is quite cool, right? Bayern’s noble dove has been at the club since 2019 after joining from 1859+1 Munich as a 10-year-old and has risen well through the youth ranks. Though the newly designed league structure tends to make Hinrunde games for Bayern’s U-17s easier than in previous seasons (the team won 8 of 14 matches by 3 goals or more), the scoring rate of 13 goals in 15 games remains impressive. Particularly given how consistently he gets on the score sheet.

Having said all this, Von Taube is still just 16-years-old. He will finish the season with the U-17s and, if he renews, will go up to the U-19s at 17 years of age. The 1.89cm tall forward is hardly being held back at all. Despite his great performances, there is not much of a need to skip ahead at the moment. Of course, he has every right to back himself to take the risk. But it would likely be a rather unnecessary risk.
