Why officials made Wake Forest turn tablets off vs Clemson basketball

Officials prevented Wake Forest from using its tablets after No. 24 Clemson basketball's devices stopped working toward the end of the first half.

According to Clemson sports information director Ben Winterrowd, Clemson's devices aren't working "fully" in the second half, either.

The NCAA rule states that "If one team’s device fails to function, the opponent may not use the equipment during the outage."

Clemson (20-6, 10-3 ACC) trailed 45-30 at the 1:02 mark in the first half, and guard Jestin Porter committed a turnover but looked to the bench and told Tigers coach Brad Brownell to challenge it.

Brownell tried but turned around in frustration after his staff told him the tablets weren't working. After Porter committed a foul on Wake Forest's possession, Brownell told the officials what was happening.

This prompted referee Lee Cassell to tell Wake Forest coach Steve Forbes to turn their tablets off, too, because Clemson's wasn't working, according to the ACC Network broadcast.

Clemson is facing Wake Forest (13-12, 4-8) at LJVM Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
